How to Subscribe and Why You Should!
Support the mission with a subscription to Empires of EVE...
Welcome and thanks for being here!
The goal of this publication is to bring you closer to the creation of the next volume of Empires of EVE, and to create a smoother process for documenting the history of EVE Online. Every subscription to this publication goes directly to me to help keep the lights on while creating this book.
Empires of EVE can’t succeed without the support of readers like you, so I hope you’ll consider one of the options available for helping this project achieve its goals.
Right now I have four subscription tiers available.
Simply being on the email list gets you access to regular updates on the project as well as some special content that will release throughout the year. The premium sub starts at $6/month and allows supporters access to a new chapter of Volume 3 each month as it’s being written. Each new chapter will also release alongside its audiobook version narrated by me.
There’s also an annual sub which offers the same access with two months free in exchange for helping me get this project moving.
Finally, for those who want to really make a difference, I’ve created a Founder’s Subscription tier which is an annual subscription that will also automatically register as a pre-order for a signed hardcover edition of Volume 3 when it’s completed.
You can find your way to the subscription menu by clicking any of the little red buttons like this one:
While there is no set minimum for funding on this project as there would be on Kickstarter, my informal target is 300 premium subscribers. Achieving this level of support would cover my rent (once Substack’s fees are taken out) during the writing process, and allow me to focus most of my time each day on getting the book written.
This is by no means a small amount of support. So I need readers like you to consider what this history means to you and whether you’d like to play a role in its creation.
I’m passionate about ensuring that this story isn’t lost to the degradation of memory and internet link rot. Recently we’ve seen a large number of EVE websites go offline, and their archives are now largely inaccessible. The Internet Archive itself - without which Empires of EVE would not be possible - is under increasing threat.
It gets worse the further back in time you look. The internet from the time of Volume 1 is now more or less completely gone. If we had not come together to document that epoch of EVE’s history it may have been completely lost.
There is a window of time in which documentation of this incredible story is actually possible, and it is narrowing all the time. I hope you’ll consider supporting my work so we can get this book written as quickly, efficiently, and extensively as possible.
Thank you for your time and your consideration,
Andrew
